With its unparalleled performance advantages, diamond tools are recognized as the only effective hard and brittle non-metallic material processing tools. For example, only diamond tools can be used to process super-hard ceramics. There are no other substitutes. Diamond wheels are used to grind hard alloys, which are 10,000 times more durable than silicon carbide. By using diamond abrasive instead of silicon carbide abrasive to process optical glass, the production efficiency can be increased several times to several tens of times. The diamond polycrystalline wire drawing die has a service life of 250 times longer than that of a wire drawing die.
Diamond tool definition
A diamond tool is a tool product that uses a binder to consolidate diamond (generally referred to as synthetic diamond) into a shape, structure, size, and for processing.
Broadly speaking, diamond abrasive pastes, rolling saw blades, cold-set diamond wire drawing dies, cold-set diamond knives, brazed diamond composite knives, etc., are also diamond tools.

Diamond tool tips and precautions
First, take a slight trimming
In order to reduce the dressing time, there seems to be a temptation to choose a larger depth of repair. This is an extremely wrong idea. The grinding wheel must be trimmed with the most appropriate dressing depth.
Choosing too large a repair depth will result in high cutting temperatures, reduced dresser life, and a useful wheel layer. The end result is damage to both the dresser and the grinding wheel, which is counterproductive.
The optimum dressing amount is that after several times of repair, it can restore the geometry of the grinding wheel and just produce a good grinding edge. With a single-point dressing tool, the diameter of the grinding wheel should be contacted with a 10-15o axial inclination angle. This will cause the single-point dressing tool to produce a sharpening effect when it is rotated periodically.
A dressing tool with multiple points of contact does not need to tilt this angle. Instead, use the entire end face of the dressing tool to make contact with the surface of the grinding wheel.
Second, insist on cooling
Proper use of coolant can speed up dressing and increase dressing power. Depending on the experience, a 3/8-inch diameter coolant can be used to remove a lot of heat from the dresser and extend the life of the dresser.
When the diamond dressing tool passes the grinding wheel, a coolant nozzle is installed to fill the entire surface of the grinding wheel or continuously add coolant to the diamond dressing tool.
When the dressing tool is trimmed at the beginning of contact with the grinding wheel, the dressing tool must never be allowed to exit from the coolant. Otherwise, the diamond dressing tool will crack or break under the cold and hot pole temperature changes.
High-precision filtration of the coolant with a filter prevents frequent circulation of dirt or chips in the coolant. The contaminated coolant can quickly wear the wheel and increase the number of dressings.
The dry grinding of the grinding wheel is only carried out during dry grinding (as long as the cooling of the diamond dressing tool can be stopped under such conditions). Before turning off the coolant every day before work, let the wheel idle for a few minutes. This will prevent the grinding wheel from breaking.
Third, the oscillation is the enemy of the trimming
In the grinding wheel dressing, the oscillation is effectively reduced, which prevents the trimming marks, bumps and damage to the dressing tools on the outer surface of the grinding wheel. This means that it is also necessary to adhere to the balance of the grinding wheel, which is determined by the structural characteristics of the grinding wheel itself.
The uneven density and the geometry of the grinding wheel will affect the inherent balance of a grinding wheel. It is therefore important to pick a high quality grinding wheel.
If it is a high-quality grinding wheel, you can keep the wheel well balanced with just the right equipment. According to the factory instructions of the grinding wheel manufacturer, the grinding wheel is marked with an upward arrow indicating the light end orientation of the grinding wheel after rough balancing.
The user can then follow the arrows to pay attention to the dressing wheel to achieve dynamic balance. The coolant is evenly filled and sometimes helps the wheel to maintain balance.
To further prevent oscillations, it is necessary to ensure that the dressing tool is firmly clamped to the holder and maintains a minimum amount of overhang to ensure that the dressing tool is sufficiently rigid.
